BioPhausia is in the process of building a well-balanced product
portfolio, containing original pharmaceuticals as well as in-licensed
products and generics. Currently the main focus of BioPhausia is generic
products, a market which provides great growth potential.
Generic products
BioPhausia markets and sells generic products through the subsidiary
BMM
Pharma. The generic products are bioequivalent with each original
product
respectively. BMM plans to extend their generic product range,
within
the next five years the company will market around 70 products.

Niche and original products
RESCUEFLOW®
BioPhausia markets their own product,
RescueFlow® which is a Small Volume Resuscitation drug. The product is a
volume substitution solution given intravenously in trauma situations for
a fast and long lasting effect on blood volume. RescueFlow® is currently
marketed in around 10 countries.

GLYCOVISC
GlycoVisc is a patented formula with the treatment objective of
relieving pain and increasing mobility in elderly patients with arthritic
joint disorders. Glycovisc is designed to expand joint fluid volume and
function as a viscoelastic shock absorber.
Preparations of the
first study with Glycovisc as a product are ready and the study is
expected to start during 2005. The licensed partner Croma Pharma, Austria,
is performing and financing the study. Croma Pharma has the rights to the
market of Europe and some smaller surrounding markets, while BioPhausia
has kept the rights to the US and Japan, two potentially large markets.
Market
The
world market for this type of treatment is estimated to be 450 million USD
and will be further reinforced by the increasing proportion of elderly
patients in populations throughout EU, Japan and USA. Time to market is
expected to about 3 years.
CROSS PHARMA
BioPhausia
acquired Medas parallel business Cross Pharma AB during
2005. The
acquisition is in line with the company strategy to provide
the Nordic
markets with price competitive pharmaceuticals.
